Jack Miller raring to go for MotoGP™ season opener

Thursday, 25 March 2021

The Aussie is among the favourites in Qatar.

Factory Ducati rider Jack Miller says he has “never felt so comfortable on the bike” ahead of this weekend’s MotoGP™ season-opening Grand Prix of Qatar.

Miller, who will make his debut for the factory squad at the Losail International Circuit, is among the favourites to take out the first race of 2021.

Ducati has a strong record in Qatar, with 11 podiums since MotoGP™ began racing there in 2004, including five wins.

Encouragingly for the team, the second race of the 2021 MotoGP™ season will also take place in Qatar, at the same circuit on the following weekend.

Following a strong performance at the Qatar Test earlier this month, which saw Miller top the combined standings and set an unofficial new lap record, the 26-year-old Aussie is looking forward to MotoGP™’s return to action.

“Finally, we are back in action for the first Grand Prix of 2021 this weekend,” Miller said.

“The official Qatar Test had been really positive, and I have never felt so comfortable on the bike before starting the Championship as this year.

“My feeling with the Desmosedici is great, and also, our speed is not that bad.

“I hope we will find good track conditions all weekend to prepare ourselves well for both races that we will have here in Losail.

“For sure, also our rivals will be really competitive here, but I am determined to start the new season on a high, fighting for the top podium as I did at the end of last year.”

The 2021 MotoGP™ season begins with free practice on Friday, with the race to be held on Sunday at 4:00am (Monday) AEDT.
