Monday, 22 March 2021
The Aussie is expected to challenge for wins.
Australia’s Remy Gardner has made a promising start to his 2021 campaign, showing strong pace at the Official Moto2™ Qatar Test.
Gardner, who will race for Red Bull KTM Ajo this year, was third fastest over three days of testing at the Losail International Circuit.
Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) set the fastest time of the test (1:58.655), followed by Marco Bezzecchi (Sky Racing Team VR46) and Gardner, with just 0.048 seconds separating the top three.
Gardner’s new teammate Raul Fernandez was eighth fastest overall, as preparations continue for the first race of the 2021 season, also at Losail from 26-28 March.
“I am very satisfied with the work we did over these three days,” Gardner said.
“Despite the conditions not being so good, in general, we set a strong pace.
“We are clear about things for next weekend, and that is the important thing.
“I want to thank the team for everything. I can’t wait for the first race of the year.”

The 23-year-old Gardner is expected to challenge for wins in the intermediate class this year, with Red Bull KTM Ajo team manager Aki Ajo speaking highly of his two riders.
“We are very happy with the pace the two riders showed and, most importantly, both Gardner and Fernandez feel well on their bikes,” he said.
“We are ready for the first round of the season.”
The 2021 Moto2™ season begins at the Qatar GP on Friday, with Sunday’s race to commence at 2:20am (Monday) AEDT.
