Summary
Start off by taking the Great Eastern Highway through to Merredin, a great place to stop, and then resume your journey by continuing on to the Western Highway. Once you get to Murray Bridge, follow the Princes Highway through to Bordertown and from there, follow the road all the way to Ballarat. From Ballarat, continue to take the Western Highway through to Koo Wee Rup Road and then Phillip Island.

You’ll definitely be hungry on this journey but there is a fantastic cafe in Merredin to provide your body with the necessary fuel! Cafe 56 is the spot, with a huge range of meals and drinks to cater for all tastes and cravings.
When it is time to take a break and go for a walk, make Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge your stopping point. You can enjoy great views, stroll along the foreshore or relax with some food until it is time to resume your trip.
Lorne is positively thriving with options as you get closer to Phillip Island and The Swing Bridge Cafe and Boathouse is a lovely spot to have a bite and enjoy the views. Other highly recommended spots are Movida (Lorne), Captain Moonlite (Anglesea) and At The Heads (Barwon Heads) for your final pit stop.
